Graduate Assistant, First Year Experience: Haana Saghatchi

Hi everyone! My name is Haana Saghatchi, and I am a second-year MA in International Studies candidate here at Chapman, as well as the current graduate assistant for First-Year Experience. My role entails assisting with facilitation and ensuring the steady flow of the First-Year Experience programs, particularly orientation, the overall transition for incoming undergraduate students, and mentorship for Orientation Coordinators. During my undergraduate studies, I transferred from Santiago Canyon College to the University of California, Santa Cruz (Go Banana Slugs!), where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, with a minor in Anthropology. As a transfer and first-generation student, I hold near and dear to my heart the experiences of navigating a new environment all on your own, as well as the importance of utilizing the resources available to you. I hope to provide a special, meaningful, and smooth transition for first-year students beginning their academic journey at Chapman University! In my free time, I enjoy thrifting, yoga, peaceful walks, going to the beach, Disney days with my friends, fantasy and historical drama TV shows, and reading!
